Kulisse
art in architecture in the entrance hall of the Charlotte Pfeffer School
Berlin 2021KULISSE (BACKDROP) is an installation of 8 panels that slowly move to and fro within a wall opening in the entrance hall of the school. The colored motifs made of antique glass cite sections of the mural mosaic on the facing wall.
The individual motifs overlap in continuous movement, conjuring up new forms and chromatic hues. KULISSE is conceived as a fleeting counterpart to the historical East German mural from the 1950s, light-heartedly introducing the aspect of change into the equation.
The permanent installation was realised in connection with redevelopment of the school site at Berolinastrasse 8 in 10178 Berlin.
